Comprehensive E-Learning Solution for Sexual Assault Responders
Sexual Assault Kit Initiative E-Learning Program
Partnered with the Montana Department of Justice on their Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) program, developing a comprehensive suite of 25 interactive online training courses. The program was specifically tailored for law enforcement agencies and medical professionals, aiming to enhance their skills and knowledge in dealing with sexual assault cases. The course content ranged from sexual assault facts, rape myths, and investigative procedures, to the handling of sexual assault kits, forensic examinations, and the application of trauma-informed approaches. Courses were developed using Adobe Captivate and were 508-compliant, demonstrating a strong commitment to accessibility. The project demanded meticulous content drafting and editing, efficient image capturing and editing, and precise voice recording and editing, all within the boundaries of best instructional design practices. The final deliverables were completed within a tight deadline, providing a significant boost to Montana's capacity to support sexual assault survivors and conduct thorough investigations.
The Challenges
- Developing 25 unique and comprehensive courses from the ground up, requiring meticulous planning, development, and review process over the course of a year.
- The project required close collaboration with a variety of SMEs, including law enforcement officials, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE), victim advocates, and prosecutors. This process ensured that the course material was accurate, relevant, and reflective of real-world practices and considerations in these fields.
- It was crucial to handle the sensitive subject matter of sexual assault with the utmost care, ensuring the material was presented in a respectful, accurate, and supportive manner to all users.
- Conducting professional voice-over recording and image editing to create a rich multimedia learning experience.
- Creating specific instructional designs for four distinct target groups: law enforcement agencies, medical professionals, victim advocates, and prosecutors, each with unique learning requirements.
